We make it quicker and easier to add cabins to your site, without all the usual headaches. For our clients at home and abroad, we offer the best fit building solutions for your needs. This includes organising the structural engineering, design and the manufacture and shipping of your lodge (under BS3632), cabin or structure. Choose from our range of pre-set cabin designs or we’ll help you create totally unique bespoke builds, including twin units, cafes and commercial projects.

We also source and buy all the high-quality materials, finishes and fittings, from cladding, doors and windows, to kitchens, bathrooms and flooring, to ensure the very best end results.

Heritage

The F&L Cabin Co was founded as the Frame & Log Cabin Company Limited by Bill Cartledge alongside the family timber frame manufacturing business in 2005. While living on the picturesque Yorkshire coast, Bill had an idea… he designed some simple holiday buildings, named them after local villages (Runswick, Littlebeck, Aislaby) and one after his flat (the Albany). In close allegiance with his father, who had manufactured timber frames for over 40 years, they quickly won some work together and the rest, as they say, is history. F&L became an independent company in 2010 and has been designing and supplying cabins and structural kits across the UK and further afield ever since.

Cabins

So what is a cabin? You may have come across a lot of confusing terminology when it comes to categorising timber buildings, particularly in the holiday sector – log cabins, lodges, micro lodges, chalets, twin units, mobiles and pods to name but a few. And when does a cabin become a home? In our opinion, it doesn’t really matter what you call them, whether it’s a high specification timber frame house for permanent use, or small, quirky, overnight guest accommodation. The most important factor is that they are designed and built to suit your needs, as well as those of your business, the planners, and the local authorities.

Commercial

We have worked closely with a variety of companies looking to grow their businesses by investing in new buildings for their holiday and business parks, farm diversification projects, hotels, pubs, golf clubs, schools or private ventures in the thriving B&B sector. Additional accommodation and buildings have enabled them to open up fresh revenue streams through sales or rental or to create new enterprises and resources such as cafes, offices, nurseries and functional buildings.

Community

At F&L Cabin Co, we continue to work with growing communities, both at home and abroad. We are proud to have been designing and supplying timber frame house kits to the Falkland Islands for several years. Working closely with our clients on the islands, and alongside changes to their local policy, we have provided a tailor-made export service that has helped buyers take their first, affordable steps onto the property ladder. As we are a small, family company, we are able to take the time to think outside of the box, and come up with ideas to suit your challenges, needs, logistics and location. Our work overseas, as well as our open-minded, versatile service has since led us into other exciting territories around the world and we are delighted to have projects now underway in Iceland.
